It has got its name from the greek word beryllos. On the name beryl we mean the minerals of the beryl group (above at the colors). Those pieces, which is not able to be sorted to these colors we call just ’simply’ beryl. The unstained beryl can consist 14% beryllium. It usually issues in pegmatites, granites or maybe in metamorphic (transformed) rocks. It has commonly thin hexagonal prismatic crystals. Localities: Brazil, Columbia (emerald), Namibia, Madagascar, USA, India etc.
