

In 1832 the french mineralogist F.S.Beudant named erythrite from the greek word ’eruthros’ (red). Its crystals are spiky, columnar, streaked, lamellar they compose radial, sheaf like, spherical aggregations and crusty earthy coatings. It is the secondary mineral of cobalt ore deposites (cobaltite, skutterudite). Localities: Germany (Schneeberg, Wittichen), England (Cornwall), Morocco (Bou Azzer) etc.
