

Its name origins from the latin word ’fluore’ (to flow), and also named as fluorspar, because it is used for forging metals to decrease the melt point. It fluoresces under the effect of ultraviolet light. Mostly occurs in pegmatites and hydrothermal ore veins. It often makes up beautiful deposits consisting of cube, octahedron or other shaped minerals. It can be found in Hungary in Budai Mountains, Velencei Mountains, Gyöngyösoroszi in Mátra. Its other locations are mostly in Spain, Great Britain, USA, China, Mexico etc.
